Spare formed in 2001 in Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland. With brothers Alan (vocals, guitar) and Peter Grouse (drums) joined by Barry Gleeson (guitar) and Don Flannery (bass), they soon became a very dedicated, innovative thrash metal band; who built up quite a fan base across Ireland.
Heavily influenced by the big names of 80s thrash; Slayer, Metallica, Sepultura and others, the band strove to make a difference in the relatively small Irish metal scene. In December 2005 their self financed five track, 30 minute EP, "Darkness Rising" was released.

Symphonic and atmospheric black metal the first track is a mid paced/fast melodic BM in the vain of late 90', early 00' black metal. The 2nd track is a cover of Nokturnal Mortum 'on the moonlight path' from 98'(Aeon winds music is highly influenced by these guys) done pretty much as the original version, only not as good (still, a killer cover). Still, a great single and a great listen.
